2016 NASCAR Pennsylvania 400 Odds Preview
My recent NASCAR drought came to an end last Sunday with Kyle Busch winning at Indianapolis as my top favorite at odds of +600.
Denny Hamlin took fourth in that race and he almost paid off as my +1800 top contender.
In between these two were Matt Kenseth in second place and Jimmie Johnson in third.
The following is a look at my top favorite, contender and longshot to win this Sunday afternoon’s race at Pocono based on betting odds provided by TopBet.
2016 NASCAR Pennsylvania 400 Odds: The Favorite (odd of less than 10/1)
Jimmie Johnson is one of two drivers listed as a +800 third-favorite to win on Sunday, but I really like his chances to pay off as my top favorite this week.
Last week’s third-place run at Indy is a good sign and the No. 48 Chevrolet has usually done quite well at Pocono.
Johnson did have a rough outing here in early June with a distant 35th-place finish, but looking back at his last 11 Sprint Cup races at this track, he has placed sixth or better seven times including a victory in the first race here of the 2013 Sprint Cup season.
2016 NASCAR Pennsylvania 400 Odds: The Contender (odds from 10/1 to 19/1)
Another top driver coming into this race in solid form is Joey Logano behind the wheel of the No. 22 Ford and his betting odds to win this week have been set at +1000.
On the year, he has eight Top 5 finishes in the first 20 point race events.
Starting with a fifth-place run at Pocono right up to last Sunday’s seventh-place finish at Indy, he has been right in the mix in six of the last seven point race events.
This run includes a victory at Michigan and a third-place finish at New Hampshire a few weeks ago.
I also like Logano’s recent efforts at this track with a trio of Top 5 finishes in his last four Sprint Cup races here.
2016 NASCAR Pennsylvania 400 Odds: The Longshot (odds 20/1 or greater)
NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon did team owner Rick Hendrick a solid by taking over the wheel of the No. 88 Chevrolet while Dale Earnhardt Jr. continues to recover from a concussion.
Gordon ended up 13th at Indianapolis last week in his first race back and his odds to stun the field with a victory this Sunday have been set at +2000. I think there is some tremendous value in those odds given Gordon’s past success at this track.
Over the course of his Sprint Cup career, he made six trips to Victory Lane at Pocono and in his final run around this track last season he came close to making it seven with a third-place finish.
