After racing under the radar for much of the season in his final fulltime season in the Sprint Cup series, veteran driver Jeff Gordon took a huge step towards going out on top with a victory last Sunday at Martinsville.
Two drivers out of contention for the title occupied the next two spots in that race with Jamie McMurray taking second and Denny Hamlin finishing third.

The following is a look at my top favorite, contender and longshot to win this Sunday’s Sprint Cup race at Fort Worth based on betting odds provided by MyBookie.
The Favorite (odd of less than 10/1)
The hottest driver in this year’s Chase has been Joey Logano with a rare three-race sweep of the Contender Round. He would have probably made it four victories in a row last week at Martinsville if he was not intentionally wrecked by Matt Kenseth.

The No. 22 car ended-up 37th after leading that race for 207 laps. This Sunday, Logano has been listed as a +500 second-favorite to get back to the Winner’s Circle and I love the value in those odds.
Kenseth is out of the picture serving a suspension and this race team will be highly motivated considering that it is suddenly facing elimination in eighth-place in the current Sprint Cup standings. It helps that Logano has a victory and a fourth-place finish in two of his last three races at Texas.
The Contender (odds from 10/1 to 19/1)
While Logano has been dominating the Chase, Martin Truex Jr. is quietly putting together a solid run to the championship race at Homestead-Miami on Nov. 22. He has now posted an eighth-place finish or better in four of his last six runs.
The No. 78 car is currently in third-place in the Sprint Cup standings and the top four drivers advance to the final race for this year’s title.
As far as Truex Jr.’s recent form at Texas, he did finish second in the early race in 2013 and he cracked the Top 10 with a ninth-place finish in the first race here this season.
The Longshot (odds 20/1 or greater)
I never gave up on Jeff Gordon making an impact in his final fulltime season racing in the Sprint Cup series and with last week’s victory under his belt this could be the start of something big for one of NASCAR’s biggest stars.
The oddsmakers are not too high on the No. 24 car for this race given Gordon’s +2500 odds to make it two in a row, but I believe there is some great value in those odds.
Texas has not been one of his best tracks over the years, but Gordon did finish second in the early race in 2014 and seventh in the first race this year.
