This game features a pair of teams coming off two-run losses on Sunday night, meeting for their first interleague series against one another since 2013.
Toronto Blue Jays
With a 17-16 record, the San Francisco Giants sit in 2nd place in the NL West and are considered again to be a contender come October.

The Giants however are coming off a series split at home to the Colorado Rockies, where they struggled to hit with runners in scoring position, as evidenced in Sunday’s game where they went 0-for-6 in this category and were shut out 2-0 for the game.
The Giants will send veteran Jake Peavy to the mound, who at this stage of his career appears to be a shell of his once dominant self.
In his past two games against the Reds and the Mets, Peavy has allowed 7 and 6 runs against respectively and boasts an overall ERA of 9.00 on the year.
Peavy has a 1-3 record and I don’t see him adding to the win column against a strong Jays’ lineup on Monday.
San Francisco Giants
The Blue Jays, an early favorite to contend for the World Series this season, currently sit in 4th in the AL East.
They have, however, gone 6-4 in their past 10 games and while not all of their hitters are performing like they should, the Jays did put up 17 runs over 2 games heading into this past weekend’s action.

While Edwin Encarnacion and Jose Bautista’s career numbers vs Peavy don’t look great, he certainly isn’t the same pitcher he once was and I’ll take the bats in their primes versus an aged starting pitcher any day.
MLB Baseball Betting Trends:
- Giants are 5-5 in their last 10 games.
- Blue Jays are 6-4 in their last 10 games.
- Jays are 7-7 on the road this season.
- Aaron Sanchez has only allowed 2 earned runs in 3 road starts this year.
Free Toronto Blue Jays vs. San Francisco Giants MLB Prediction:
The Jays will send Aaron Sanchez to face the San Francisco Giants for the first time in his young career. He comes in with a 2-1 record and an impressive 2.82 ERA, 34K and 1.17 WHIP.
While he is starting in his first interleague game, he has the advantage of facing a team who have never seen his stuff and pitching in the friendly AT&T Park.
Sanchez only has one game this year where he’s allowed over 3 runs and if you remove the 6-run game against Oakland in April, his ERA would be significantly lower.
4* Free MLB Betting Pick: Toronto ML
While the standings say the Giants are the better team right now, the Jays have been better lately and a close game or two that went the other way could easily have the records reversed.
With the Jays sending one of the game’s promising young pitchers to the hill against a struggling veteran, I’ll take the kid and the Jays in this one.
The better offense is also sending the better pitcher to the mound, so I like the Jays to take game 1 of the series on the road.
