The White Sox sit right around .500 for the season, which is considered a disappointing one for a team that had playoff aspirations entering the year.
Minnesota sits at the bottom of the AL and should be in a position for a high draft pick next draft.
Chicago White Sox
It will be interesting to see what happens from the fallout of the Sale jerseygate fiasco, if the rumors actually hold true and they are willing to listen on offers for him.
It would be a ridiculous move for a team that has vastly underperformed, but has some solid pieces to make a run next season.
Sale isn’t part of the problem, he should be kept unless the offer is so great that they cannot refuse.
Taking the hill is the other great starter the Sox own, Jose Quintana, who owns an 8-8 record with a 2.97 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP with 116 K in 130 innings.
The Sox rotation, with the addition of James Shields, is actually a decent one though they could sell of Shields for some next season parts.
Speaking of quality starting pitchers, Ricky Nolasco is not one.
Nolasco owns a 5.40 ERA on the year and a 1.41 WHIP that both suggest his 4-8 record is not just based on Milone pitching for a bad team.
He hasn’t had an ERA lower than 5.38 since 2013, meaning none of his 3 years in Minnesota since they’ve signed him.
The Minnesota offense has an aging squad, with Joe Mauer, Brian Dozier, Trevor Plouffe and Kurt Suzuki amongst the regulars.
This would seem like an opportune time to jettison some of these players to contenders and give the younger prospects regular playing time and experience.
MLB Baseball Betting Trends:
- Chicago is 22-27 on the road
- the Sox are 5-5 in their last 10 games
- Nolasco allowed 6 earned runs in 2.0 innings (27.00 ERA) in his last start
- Minnesota is 20-31 at Target Field this year
- The Twins are 4-6 in their past 10
Free Chicago White Sox vs. Minnesota Twins MLB Prediction:
Tough to bet on the Minnesota to do anything besides lose these days, and I’m not going to try to go against the grain.
The Sox have a very good starter going against a team that poses very little of an offensive threat.
4* Free MLB Betting Pick: Sox -1.5
Expect Todd Frazier to smack his 30th homer of the year against Nolasco and the Sox to be victorious.
MLB Free Score Prediction: Chicago 5-2
