Handicapping NFL Futures
The AFC east is annually predicted to go to the same team. This year, though, it seems the defending champs could have some problems coming their way. With the league getting more competitive each season, this could be the year that brings change to the old guard.

Each team had their fair share of craziness this offseason in the AFC East. Behind all the drama that came with the downtime, the Dolphins, Ravens and Bills were all tinkering in hopes of not only just keeping up with the Patriots, but overtaking them and snatching the division crown.

In what might be the boldest prediction of the season, I am banking on a new AFC East champ this season.
Why Miami will have the most wins in the AFC East
The Dolphins went through a major transformation during the offseason. Gone are 16 notable players from last season’s roster. Coming in are 11 new players, including who many thought was the #1 free agent available going into the dead time.

The addition of defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh is surely going to help shape the new-look defense of the Dolphins. With defensive end Cameron Wake to his left and Olivier Vernon to his right, the Dolphins pass rush will be formidable as they have been in recent years.
Behind them is cornerback Brent Grimes and safety Reshad Jones, two of the best at their positions.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Dolphins bulked up their receiving corp after giving quarterback Ryan Tannehill a shiny new contract. They made a deal with the Saints to get wide receiver Kenny Stills and added receiver Greg Jennings and tight end Jordan Cameron.
Added to that pass catcher group is DeVante Parker, who Miami added through the draft. Throw in Jarvis Landry and you have no shortage of weapons for Tannehill to throw to. He also got a boost in the backfield with the addition of Jay Ajayi in the draft.
With some huge opponents on the schedule this year, the Dolphins will have plenty of opportunities to show that they are improved and dangerous.
Dolphins AFC East Prediction: 11-5
Like I said…this is a bold prediction for the ages. The Dolphins made some major upgrades this offseason after playing teams like the Patriots very close last season. This is the year for them to finally reach the mountaintop in the division.

Having the AFC South on their schedule is a big boost, as Jacksonville, Tennessee and Houston will most likely go down without much of a fight. The Colts will pose a problem, though, even getting them at home.
The NFC East will pose some problems as both the Eagles and Cowboys will be extremely tough games.
You have the Patriots and Ravens who the Dolphins will most likely split with. The game against the Redskins will be statement a game as the season begins in Washington and will be interesting to see the first chance for this new team to play together when it counts.
It’s going to be an interesting season in the AFC East this year. With all eyes on New England, a team like Miami will try to fly under the radar and cause enough havoc to have those eyes look their direction.
