The Weber State Wildcats and Oregon State Beavers open their respective seasons a day earlier than most by kicking off Friday evening at Reser Stadium in Corvallis, Ore.

The Wildcats went 2-10 last season as a part of the Big Sky conference, while the Beavers went 5-7 as a member of the Pac-12.
Weber State
In 2014, the Weber State Wildcats averaged 21.8 points per contest. Overall, their offense wasn’t as bad as that makes it sound, as the tea averaged 385.1 yards per game.
It just couldn’t convert those yards into points, which is something it will have to do in Week 1 against a power conference opponent if it hopes to walk away with a win.

The big thing to watch in this one for Weber State is where quarterback Billy Green is able to get the ball. Having him back on the roster is a step in the right direction for this program, but the team has lost its top two receivers from last year.
Defensively, this team struggled last season, giving up 30.7 points per contest.
For those doing the math, that’s an average margin of 8.9 points in the opponents’ favor.
If the Wildcats can protect the football in this one, it will be huge for them, as turnovers were the primary reason for their lack of scoring as well as their opponents’ extra chances.
Oregon State
The Oregon State Beavers have a history of dropping early-season contests to inferior opponents. This year, however, the team is under new tutelage, as Gary Anderson is now running the sidelines in place of Mr. Corvallis himself, Mike Riley.

With long-time starting quarterback Sean Mannion now taking snaps as a reserve in the NFL, Anderson has to work a new quarterback into a new system.
Although Anderson claims he’s been “sworn to secrecy” regarding who the new quarterback will be, it appears that freshman Seth Collins is the one who has the edge just days before the season’s first contest.
Look for the team to ride returning running back Storm Woods in this one (and throughout most of the year) as the team acclimates to a new system under a new head coach.

Week 1 NCAA Football Prediction
Although the line hasn’t been released in this one as of Tuesday, Sept. 1, expect it to be large, which will benefit Weber State at this point in the process.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: OFF
However, when the over/under is released, there’s a good chance an “over” bet will come to fruition, as both of these defenses are weak coming into the year.
