The Vanderbilt Commodores are going between the hedges to face the Georgia Bulldogs this Saturday in Athens.
Vandy coach Derek Mason has yet to have a signature win since taking over in Nashville, and this could be a job saver if the Commodores somehow manage an upset.
The Bulldogs, on the other hand, need a victory here to stay in the hunt for a spot in the SEC Championship. They need to win out and get some help to have a shot, but a victory this week is an absolute must.

They travel to Florida next week, but they cannot overlook the Commodores Saturday and risk an upset.
Vanderbilt Commodores
Vandy has had a typical Vandy year so far.
They are currently 2-4, with their only wins coming against Middle Tennessee and Western Kentucky.
Derek Mason was brought in to build upon recent success after James Franklin left for Penn State, but the squad has regressed back to the old Vanderbilt under his watch.

He has still yet to win an SEC game, but if they can just keep this one close, it might cool down his seat a bit.
Vanderbilt relies heavily upon their ground attack, led by running back Ralph Webb. Webb has run for 682 yards and five touchdowns this year.
He’s also averaging 5.0 yards per carry, but it will be tough to beat Georgia if they remain one-dimensional. The Commodores are coming off a disappointing loss last week to Kentucky, the only SEC team that Vandy usually has a shot to beat.
If Kentucky was able to run all over them for 257 yards, I am afraid to see what Nick Chubb will do.
Georgia Bulldogs
Georgia defeated South Carolina 24-14 on Sunday last week in a game that had to be postponed due to Hurricane Matthew.
That ended a two game losing streak in which they were blown out by Ole Miss 45-14 and defeated in the last seconds by Tennessee with the Hail Mary Heard ‘Round the World.
Star running back Nick Chubb seemed to be fully healthy last week after missing almost all of the last few games.

Chubb and Sony Michel combined for 254 yards rushing in the win over South Carolina, but that was the extent of their offense. Freshman quarterback Jacob Eason has had ups and downs all year, but last week was all down.
Eason went 5-17 for 29 yards (not a typo) against South Carolina. We know he has potential, but another performance like that will have fans calling for Greyson Lambert.

Vanderbilt is playing with house money at this point, but it is doubtful they have the talent to keep up with Georgia.
They should be able to run the ball well against the Bulldog defense, but they stand no chance if they are totally one-dimensional.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Georgia -14.5
I expect a comeback game from Jacob Eason while Vanderbilt puts all its focus on slowing down Chubb and Michel. He’s got one of the strongest arms in the SEC and will probably go deep often off the play-action.
However, Vandy is still an SEC opponent and no cupcake, so they could be in danger if they’re thinking too much about the Gators next week. Outside of that, Georgia should win this one easily.
