After last year’s big loss against the Trojans, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are looking to make it a distant memory with a big win of their own this season in their annual rivalry game.

Most college football storylines this week has revolved around USC. Whether it be their upset loss at home against Washington last Thursday or the surprising dismissal of Head Coach Steve Sarkisian, there was no shortage of Southern Cal coverage.
USC
The Husky defense handed Cody Kessler one of the worst games of his career, only allowing 156 pass yards, no touchdowns and 2 interceptions. He is now 105 of 151 passing for 1,453 yards, 15 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.
His biggest target on the season is by far receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster. With 33 receptions for 619 yards and 6 touchdowns, Smith-Schuster has made his name known throughout college football.
On the ground, the Trojans have been successful with their 2-headed attack of Tre Madden and Ronald Jones II. Madden has 54 carries for 333 yards and 4 touchdowns while Jones II 38 carries for 307 yards and 3 touchdowns.

On defense, Su’a Cravens has been the clear leader. Second in team tackles with 31, Cravens also has 4 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, an interception, 3 passes defended and a forced fumble. Leading in tackles is Cameron Smith with 42 to go along with his 1 tackle for loss, 1 sack, and 2 passes defended.
As a unit, the defense has 27 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, 4 interceptions, 17 passes defended, 5 forced fumbles, 5 fumble recoveries, and a blocked kick.
With Sarkisian out and Clay Helton in at Head Coach, things will probably not change much offensively. Helton being promoted to interim coach shouldn’t change the offense much as he was the team’s Tight Ends Coach and has garnered a lot of respect among players.
#13 Notre Dame
Still very much in the hunt for the College Championship, the Fighting Irish are looking to capitalize on USC’s rough start and hand them yet another loss in the 2015 season.
Averaging just over 502 yards of total offense per game this season, Notre Dame is ready to come out swinging, led by quarterback DeShone Kizer. On the year, Kizer has 1,143 yards passing, 8 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions on 85 of 129 passing on the season. He’s also racked up 128 yards and 3 scores on the ground.
C.J. Procise has been the clear leader among the running backs, getting 110 carries for 779 yard and 9 touchdowns. Josh Adams is second with 33 carries for 239 yards and 3 scores.
The Fighting Irish boast 5 receivers over 100 yards with Will Fuller leading the way. Fuller has 29 grabs for 571 yards and 7 touchdowns. Next is Chris Brown with 24 receptions for 317 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Jaylon Smith is leading the defense with 42 tackles. He’s also got 5.5 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 3 passes defended, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Cole Luke is leading the team in interceptions with 2 to go with his 13 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, and 5 passes defended.
Standout KeiVarae Russell has 32 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 3 passes defended, and a forced fumble.
Notre Dame has outgained their opponents 3,016 to 2,002 this season and have taken 3 out of the last 5 games in this series.

Free Week 7 NCAA Football Prediction
While it’s not your typical rivalry, they definitely circle this game on the calendar each year. While they will play each other tough, it’s hard not to think things will continue to be the same for each – with one rising and one in the midst of a fall they haven’t experienced in years.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Notre Dame -6.5
Notre Dame is poised to keep on rising this season and a win against the Trojans would definitely make their claim to a College Football Championship berth a little big stronger, despite USC’s recent woes.
