This game features two AAC teams looking to keep themselves afloat in hopes of gaining a bowl bid.
The Huskies and Bearcats have been models of consistency in terms of their play but inconsistency in terms of their results.

This is usually the time of year that a teams will figure out what their identity is. That question still remains a bit for both of these teams and this could be a game to help them figure it out.
UConn
The Huskies have been a difficult team to figure out through their first 7 games. They had a ranked Missouri team on the ropes on the road. A late fake field goal attempt to try to win the game came up short and the Huskies dropped it 9-6.
For the first time in a few years, the Huskies have had consistent quarterback play. Bryant Shirreffs has completed 64.4 percent of his passes and is averaging 233.7 passing yards per game.
The biggest issue has been protecting Shirreffs. He has been sacked 26 times through the first seven games. That may not be much of a problem this Saturday though as the Bearcats have only sacked the opposing quarterback six times through six games.
The Huskies may have a chance to get the running game going too. They will be up against a Bearcat defense that has allowed 4.9 yards per carry.
[dfads params=’groups=226&limit=1&return_javascript=1′]
The Huskies have won three games – but the wins are hardly worth noting. They beat FCS Villanova by just 5, beat Army also by 5, and then trounced winless UCF.
The Huskies struggled mightily with the Bearcat offense in 2014 – losing 41-0 at home.
If the Huskies want to win this – or even keep it close, they will need to find a way to slow down the passing attack.
Cincinnati
The Bearcats have been competitive in all of their games so far – despite only winning three of them.
Their biggest loss was last week to BYU by 14 when they surrendered 21 fourth quarter points. Their other losses were by 8 to Temple and 7 to Memphis – both of whom are undefeated.
There is some quarterback controversy brewing in Cincinnati. Gunner Kiel started the season under center before getting injured early in a loss to Memphis. Hayden Moore took over that game and threw for 557 yards in the loss.
Moore was ineffective last week as the Bearcat sputtered at times. The starter for this week’s game won’t be named until gametime most likely.

Whoever is under center will lead a passing attack that has averaged 358.2 yards per game. The offense should have its way against a UConn defense that surrendered 41 points to them in last season’s matchup.
NCAA Football Handicapping Trends
The Huskies are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games as a road underdog.
The Huskies are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games following a SU loss.
The Bearcats are 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 conference games.
Free Week 8 NCAA Football Prediction
Whether it is Kiel or Moore, the Bearcats passing attack won’t be slowed down at home. UConn has been better than last year but they still have a bit to go before they are respectable again.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Cincinnati -12.5
The Bearcats will win this one pretty convincingly. The Bearcats identity will be found while UConn may struggle with what theirs appears to be.
