The conference opener for both teams sees them coming off of week 1 victories in very different fashion.
UConn had a tough game against Maine came up with the victory 24-21. Navy easily handled Fordham 52-16.
Last year’s meeting saw Navy travel to UConn and win 28-18.
UConn’s multi threat QB Bryant Sherrifs did not have a good game throwing the ball (only 162 yards 0TD and 0 INT), but he made up for it on the ground racking up 95 yards on 20 carries.
He will need to be at his best for UConn to stay in the game.
The two-pronged attack of Ron Johnson and Arkeel Newsome should be able to move the chains repeatedly. Their change of pace skills will keep the Navy defense guessing and keep the offense off the field.
Anytime you play an offense that utilizes the option as much as Navy does, your defense will have a hard time stopping it.
In order for the Huskies defense to stop the option they will need to stay in their assignment lines and not over-pursue.
I don’t believe the defense has the athletes to stay fresh while on the field, as Navy utilized 11 different runners last week.
For years teams no that when you have Navy on your schedule you are going to defend the option. This year I expect at least 3 rushers for the midshipmen to top 800 yards on the ground.
Chris High had over 170 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground. I expect him to have another big game against the Huskies D. He will be the key man in the Navy backfield this season.
Tago Smith ran for 97 yard and 2 scores of his own. This 1-2 punch will give the UConn defense headaches all afternoon.
The Navy passing defense will need to be much better against UConn.
They gave up over 300 yards to Kevin Anderson of Fordham, and the pass rush only had 3 sacks. In order for them to get the victory the secondary will need to pay much better than last week.

Free Week 2 NCAA Football Prediction
UConn had a tough time against Maine, and I think the line is to close. The Navy offense will carve up the Huskies defense and get another convincing victory.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: NAVY -3.5
The Navy option offense will have no problems covering. I expect 2 runners over 100 yards and 4 scores on the ground.
If they attempt more than 10 passes I will be surprised. Take the Midshipmen going over the point total.
