The starts for these two teams are not what many expected going into the season. The Knights have lost their first six games to start the year while Temple has won their first five and are looking to go 6-0 for the first time since 1974.
The Owls enter as more than three touchdown favorites but will be more focused on continuing to play strong football and picking up a win.
The Knights’ attempt to pick up their first win of the season will not be an easy one as Temple’s defense has terrorized its opponents through its first five games.
There isn’t much to say about an 0-6 team that isn’t already clear. Their offense stinks, their defense stinks, they can’t win on the road, they can’t win at home.
The Knights haven’t been very competitive either – losing their six games by an average of 14 points. The 0-6 start includes a loss at home to FCS opponent Furman.
There’s no question that the Owls will prevail on Saturday evening in Philadelphia. But how can the Knights keep it close and how can they start playing better football?
The first thing to do is create turnovers. They have forced their opponents into just four turnovers through six games – zero interceptions along with four recovered fumbles.
Temple has been a little careless with the football with eight turnovers through five games – including losing six fumbles.
It won’t matter though if the offense keeps turning the ball over. The Knights offense has turned the ball over 17 times – tied for the third most in the country.
If the turnover margin is any indication as to how this game will go, the Knights are in for a long evening.
The Owls are simply trying to continue playing solid football and winning football games. The three touchdown spread means nothing to them.
However, they are also trying to prove they are worth more recognition. They are one of two teams in the FBS who are undefeated but also not ranked in the AP Top 25. The other one – Memphis – plays in their conference.
The Owls could be looking ahead though to teams that are more dangerous to their undefeated season. Three of their next four are on the road – the one home game is against Notre Dame.
As the season goes on, remaining undefeated is impressive no matter how it is done. Style points don’t matter as much as the number of teams without a loss decreases. Temple needs to win this one but it doesn’t matter how they do it.

The Owls will win this one and continue their undefeated season momentarily but it won’t be in a blowout fashion.
The Knights will start to figure it out a bit – maybe force a turnover or two – but it won’t be enough.
