Pittsburgh continues their surge as they knocked off Virginia 26-19 to improve to 4-1 on the season.

The Panthers continue their hot winning ways as they notched another win on Saturday with a 26-19 win over Virginia. The win put the Panthers at 4-1, which is the first time they’ve started this well since the 2009 season.
Pittsburgh raced out to a 14-0 lead last week against Virginia, but leaned heavily on their defense in the 4th quarter. Pitt got a stand at mid field late in the 4th quarter to hold on for the win.

Pitt’s defense continues to dominate as they rank 7th in FBS in defense with just 264.6 yards against. They also have recorded 21 sacks. Against the run the Panthers’ numbers are even more impressive.
They have held the opposition to just 84.8 yards on the ground and are allowing them to get just 2.88 yards per rush.
QB Nate Peterman has been average at best this season, throwing for 760 yards and 6 touchdowns to just 3 interceptions.
Georgia Tech
The Yellow Jackets were a preseason Top 25 team and had ambitions of making a legit push toward a BCS Playoff spot. That however hasn’t come close to the case as this team is now just looking to make sure they are bowl eligible come seasons end.
The Yellow Jacket are just 2-4 on the season and are coming in off a loss to Clemson 43-24. The loss pushed their losing streak to 4 games, which is the most they’ve lost in a row since 1996.

Georgia Tech’s frustrations began to seriously mount in the 2nd half last week as the triple option team rushed for just 15 yards total in that half. Georgia Tech has averaged 311.8 rush yards per game, but that has not held to form lately.
Points wise, the Yellow Jackets are averaging 38.5 per game, but their also conceding 26.8.
They’ll hope to duplicate last years performance as they ran for 465 yards in a 56-28 route of Pittsburgh. The Yellow Jackets defense also recovered 6 fumbles in the win.
