This #23 Ole Miss Rebels are heading down to Death Valley to take on the #25 LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge this Saturday. This SEC West matchup may not determine the champion, but it will still have serious implications in the conference.
The Rebels are coming off a thrilling 34-30 loss at #17 Arkansas last week in which the teams went back and forth for four quarters.
The Tigers have had an absolutely crazy year halfway through the 2016 season.
From controversial postponed games to the even more controversial firing of a legendary head coach, LSU has survived and still relevant in the West.

They drubbed Southern Miss in Baton Rouge last week 45-10.
Ole Miss Rebels
Once again, the Rebels came into the year with loads of expectations, only to disappoint. They started off the season giving up a 13-point halftime lead against #13 Florida State to lose 35-34 in Tallahassee.
They then gave Alabama their toughest game so far but were unable to close the deal and fell 48-43.
They always play Alabama close, which is probably why the AP people continue to find excuses to keep them in the Top 25, even though they have already dropped three.

Although they have had their struggles, the Ole Miss offense is still formidable.
They rank 20th in the nation in points per game with 39.7. Quarterback Chad Kelly has led the way with 1,849 yards with 18 touchdowns to only five interceptions. Their 320 passing yards per game is 14th in the country.
The defense has not been so great, allowing 30.3 points per game which is 87th in the nation.
LSU Tigers
The season off the field for LSU has been almost as exciting as many teams’ on-field seasons. Rumors of firing Les Miles have circled the program for years, and they finally came to a head this year.
However, the team seems to have been rejuvenated under interim coach Ed Ogeron and has won their last two by a combined total of 70 points.

LSU’s offense is led by their rushing attack, but their leading rusher this season is not named Fournette.
The star running back has dealt with injuries all year and is not expected to play in this one.
However, Derrius Geice has done a magnificent job in replacement, running for 564 yards and 6 touchdown this year.
Quarterback Danny Etling has done a good job of managing games, but the defense is what has won games for the Tigers.
They allow only 14 points per game which is tied for 4th best in the country.

Free Week 8 NCAA Football Prediction:
Ole Miss is so hard to predict. They look great at times but average at others. Chad Kelly has been very good so far but unable to come through when it matters most.
The defense has been very bad at times and that will not work out well in Death Valley. Normally, if a team is unpredictable, it’s best to bet the other way.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Under 60.5
LSU has really seem to come to life after the Les Miles firing. I’m not saying it was a good idea. It wasn’t. I’m also not saying Ogeron will get to keep the job.
He won’t. But the team definitely seems to respond to him and this will be their biggest test so far with him as coach. Although the Ole Miss defense gives up a lot of points, LSU’s old school running attack won’t score many.
They don’t have to with that defense, and this one should be relatively low scoring.
