The defending champs start their quest at a repeat as they look for a little bit of revenge as they head to Blacksburg to take on the Virginia Tech Hokies.
#1 Ohio State was down to their 3rd string QB in 2014 and it looked as if their weak schedule and loss at home to Virginia Tech early in the season was going to have them on the outside looking in for the College Playoff.
However, the Buckeyes silenced the doubters and went on to defeat Alabama and then Oregon en route to the National Championship.

As for Virginia Tech, their early season upset in Columbus was easily their biggest win of 2014.
Everyone in the nation feels that Ohio State is going to come into Blacksburg Monday and take out their frustrations from last year and just run over Virginia Tech.
Do the Hokies have enough firepower to silence the doubters themselves here in Week 1?
Ohio State
For the first time in the history of the NCAA, we have a unanimous #1 heading into the season. The Buckeyes received all the first place votes and yet, nobody has any idea who their QB will be.
JT Barrett and Cardale Jones continue to remain silent along with head coach Urban Meyer as the team prepares for Monday nights contest. Barrett led the Buckeyes to a position that could get them into the Playoffs last year, but after getting injured, the ball was given to Cardale Jones.
Jones made the most of his opportunity by far as won the Big 10 Championship Game, then defeated Alabama and Oregon.

Jones decided to return after pondering the thought of moving to the NFL and it created a lot of buzz as Ohio State had 3 QBs with Braxton Miller in the mix.
Now, who ever the starting QB will be will have Miller out wide as the former starting QB decided to move to WR.
Lost in all this will be RB and National Title Game MVP Ezekiel Elliott. The RB totaled nearly 2000 yards and 18 touchdowns on the ground in 2014.
Virginia Tech
The Hokies finished the season 7-6 in 2014, but easily their biggest win was the victory in Columbus in the beginning of the season.
Now Senior QB Michael Brewer threw for 2 touchdowns in the 2014 contest and the defense stood strong in the Hokies monumental win.
The defense had 3 interceptions, one of which was taken back to the house for a 63 yard touchdown late in the game to cap off a 35-21 victory.

QB Michael Brewer returns after leading the Hokies to a very sub par offense that struggled a lot in 2014. He threw for 2692 yards and 18 touchdowns which is very impressive, but he had 15 interceptions to compliment his good play.
The Hokies come into Monday’s contest with a record of 48-3 home record since the 1996 season in non conference games.
