Don’t look now but Nevada and Purdue have a big game against one another when they meet on Saturday in Ross-Ade Stadium.
With the Wolfpack at 2-1 on the year and the Boilermakers off a bye week, this has the makings of a great game.
And the lines are calling it like that as well, with Purdue opening as a 4.5 point favorite in this one, though some sites do predict Purdue to be a heavy favorite.
But who’s to say the Nevada Wolfpack can’t pull off the upset in Indiana as the Boilermakers look to build on two early wins.
The Boilermakers should be the superior team in this one but Nevada does have a shot to come away with a win if they play to their potential.
Nevada had a quality in over Buffalo in their last game, with the offense firing on all cylinders and the defense playing admirably in a 38-14 victory. QB Tyler Stewart played well as a game manager, completing 16 of 21 for 160 yards with a TD.
He followed that performance with 31 yards and a TD on the ground as well.
RB James Butler provided the bulk of the offense, carrying the ball 28 times for 174 yards and three TDs.
Moving forward look for Nevada to pound the ball on the ground as they look to pull the upset against a Purdue team looking to play a surprise role in the Big Ten this year.
Purdue has looked decent so far in 2016, perhaps a surprise to detractors who thought they were bred to be one of the worst Power 5 teams in CFB.
But despite a 38-20 loss to Cincinnati that saw them down the entire game the Boilermakers did look better than expected as they managed to move the ball and even put some points on the board.
QB David Blough had some impressive numbers as he completed 32 of 57 passes for 401 yards and 2 TDs. The only problem? 5 interceptions. He now has 6 interceptions on the season while completing 57% of passes.
RB Markell Jones does the damage for Purdue on the ground, rushing 39 times for 192 yards and a TD on the year.

Free Week 4 NCAA Football Prediction
Purdue is trending upwards in the Big Ten and Nevada has always been tough against Power 5 opponents.
Yes, this is definitely going to be a close and fun game that sees both teams play to their strengths, with Nevada pounding the ball on the ground and Purdue airing it out.
Look for the Wolfpack to force a couple critical turnovers and win the time of possession battle en route to a huge win on the road.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Nevada +4.5
It’s not going to be a high-scoring affair but it should be a fun one to watch.
Nevada will eat clock by pounding the ball and Purdue will have a few decent drives to make it interesting, but I think the Wolfpack will do just enough to hold off a Boilermaker rally towards the end.
