Nebraska and Miami will be meeting in Florida for the first time in the regular season since 1951 on Saturday afternoon.
The Cornhuskers rebounded from a last second loss to BYU by taking out some frustrations on South Alabama as they rolled 48-9.
The Hurricanes used a big 2nd half to propel themselves to a 44-20 win over Florida Atlantic on Friday night.
Kick off is set in the Sunshine State for 3:30 on ABC or ESPN 2.
While Ameer Abdullah was running wild in his senior year at Nebraska, RB Terrell Newby was only able to sit and observe.
Now, Abdullah has moved to the NFL and Newby is the go to guy in the backfield for Nebraska. The RB had a standout game in the 48-9 win over South Alabama as he rushed for 236 yards and 3 touchdowns.
The win was much needed, even if it was against a week opponent as Nebraska need all the confidence they could get following their heartbreaking loss on the opening week of the season to BYU. The Cornhuskers saw BYU catch a ball at the goal line and reach it over as time expired.
The main problem through the first two games for Nebraska has been their secondary. The Cornhuskers have been very vulnerable to the deep pass as they’ve allowed 8 passes of 20 yards or more.
Nebraska currently ranks 120th in pass defense.
The Hurricanes will try for a bit of revenge after they fell in Lincoln, Nebraska last year 41-31 to the Cornhuskers. With the loss, Miami fell to 5-6 overall against Nebraska in their history.
The retractable door of injuries continues for Miami as they will add another key member to the out of the season list. Linebacker Darrion Owens joined his teammate RB Gus Edwards as top players to be out of the remainder of the 2015 season.
With the bad news, comes a little bit of good news. Miami will welcome back WRs Stacy Coley and Braxton Berrios. They’ll be just as big of threats as RB Joseph Yearby has been thus far. The talented RB rushed for 243 yards against Florida Atlantic and rushed for the go ahead touchdown in the win.
Yearby has been able to form so well as he doesn’t have all the pressure on his shoulders in the backfield. He’s complimented by freshman Mark Walton, who rushed for 3 touchdowns against FAU.
