The Minnesota Golden Gophers travel to Fort Collins, Colorado as they search for win #1 on the season when they take on the Colorado State Rams.
Minnesota made a strong case as being the nation’s best 0-1 team as they gave TCU a run for their money in Week 1, but fell just short.

Colorado State will get their first look at a “real” team as they took on FCS Savannah State in Week 1. They did just as expected with a 65-13 win over them.
Kick off is set for 3:30 on CBSC.
Minnesota
The Golden Gophers had an encouraging Week 1, even though it ended in a loss. Minnesota fell 23-17 to the #2 team in the country as they scored a late touchdown to pull within 6, only to have a failed onside kick attempt.
Minnesota stood tall all game long defensively, especially in the redzone. The “bend, but not break” line can be applied here.

Minnesota allowed TCU to rack up 449 yards, but held in forcing TCU into a missed field goal attempt along with an interception.
The Golden Gophers themselves showed some firepower offensively as they turned in 341 yards total. QB Mitch Leidner threw for 197 yards and a touchdown in the game.
RB Rodney Smith had 88 yards rushing on 16 carries with a touchdown to go along with his stats.
However, the Golden Gophers had some bad timed fumbles that eventually led to their dismay.
Colorado State
The Rams really had nothing but a bye in Week 1. FCS participant Savannah State was out gained 598-183 in terms of yardage and was ran right out of the stadium from the opening kickoff.
The Rams led 45-7 at the half behind QB Nick Stevens 5 touchdown passes. Stevens threw for 289 yards along with those 5 touchdowns before eventually being removed from the game.

The Rams even got a solid look at their backup as Coleman Key went 7 of 8 for 92 yards and a touchdown pass in the 2nd half with the reserves.
Colorado State also completed their all around performance with a solid rushing attack from Jason Oden who had 74 yards. Izzy Matthews rushed for a touchdown to go along with 53 yards. As a team, the Rams rushed for 217 yards total.

On paper, both teams are pretty even. Both offer a solid balance between their pass and rush attacks.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Colorado State ATS
The Rams are a little undervalued here because of their Week 1 opponent. On the other side of things, Minnesota’s value is inflated more than usual because of their near upset of TCU. However, grabbing the home team with the points in a close game like this is the right side.
