This Big Ten matchup has two teams that have large differences in the talent level on both sides of the ball. Michigan comes in undefeated after beating a good Wisconsin team at home in a slugfest.
Rutgers has been beaten soundly in two of their 3 losses and were blown out by Ohio State last week.
If you are looking for an upset don’t believe in the Scarlet Knights after their terrible performance against Ohio State.
Michigan Wolverines
The big key for the Wolverines offense this game will be how well the offensive line protects the quarterback.
Last week Wilton Speight faced TJ Watt and a tough Badger defense, and was sacked 4 times.

This week he should have a lot more time to throw the ball. I don’t expect him to be sacked and he should throw for 250 yards and 3 touchdowns.
De’Veon Smith is starting to find his groove for the Wolverines, which will cause headaches for Big Ten defenses the rest of the way. Last week he put up only 66 yards rushing, but Jim Harbaugh fed him the ball when it mattered the most.
I’m expecting 25+ carries this week. It won’t surprise me to see him reach the end zone as well.
Widoeut Amara Darboh had a huge game against the Wisconsin secondary last week. He has emerged as the go to threat for the passing game should have another big game against a poor Rutgers secondary.

The Wolverines defense stepped up to the challenge last week.
Seeming to go play for play with a tough Badgers defense on the other side.
They gave up one touchdown and forced three interceptions. Jabril Peppers will shut down Rutgers #1 receiver and he should make a few clutch plays early to secure the victory.
Rutgers Scarlet Knights
Rutgers played a terrible game last week on offense and defense, but it isn’t to say this season hasn’t already been successful.
Rutgers has been on a downward spiral for a number of years but it looks like they can start turning the corner this season with a few winnable games still on the schedule.
QB Chris Laviano has still not thrown over 200 yards passing in a game this season. The play calling needs to change if Rutgers is going to have any shot at winning this game.
There is no excuse for a team to get blown out and the quarterback only has 12 pass attempts.
That’s just giving up by the coaching staff and when the coaching staff gives up you can’t expect much from the players.
Robert Martin had two straight strong performances against New Mexico and Iowa, but he came crashing back to earth against Ohio State last week.
I don’t expect him to do much this week against another tough front seven, but he should get over 50 yards on the ground.
Does your team really have a go to receiver when only 1 player catches 3 passes for the entire game?
That seems to be the answer for Rutgers as Jawaun Harris caught all three of Laviano’s completions last week.
This week I do expect more than 1 person to catch passes but there won’t be any major impact by the receiving corps.

The Wolverines shouldn’t have any trouble in this game against Rutgers.
The running game has been strong to start this season and the playmakers on both sides of the ball should keep Rutgers from scoring for a second straight week.
The Wolverines will win big and it will be over by halftime.
