The #2 Michigan Wolverines will travel to East Lansing this Saturday to take on their rival Michigan State Spartans.
The Wolverines will be looking to remain undefeated and remain the #2 team in the nation at Spartan Stadium. The Wolverines beat up on the Illinois Fighting Illini last week 41-8.

The struggles continue last Saturday for the Spartans when they lost in Maryland by a final of 28-17.
Michigan State has won the previous three meetings between these schools, including stunning the nation last year with a 27-23 win.
Michigan Wolverines
The Michigan Wolverines continued to dominate their opponents this season with a 41-8 victory over the Illinois Fighting Illini.
Quarterback Wilton Speight was able to connect on 16 of his 23 passes, finding the end zone twice and tossing the ball for 253 yards. He has turned a lot of heads this season, throwing for 1,447 yards with 13 touchdowns while only being picked off twice.
The Wolverines had their usual arsenal of weapons at running back with Karan Higdon doing the most damage with eight carries for 106 yards.
Amara Derboh has able to but up some big numbers against Illinois and now leads the wolverines with 499 receiving yards this season.

On Defense, Michigan was stingy again this week, only allowing the Fighting Illini 172 total yards, 95 of which came through the air.
The defense spent the majority of the game on the sideline, due to the fact that Illinois was only able to collect six first downs.
The Michigan defense is ranked first in the nation in almost every category worth paying attention too, including only giving up an average of 10 points per game.
Michigan State Spartans
In a desperate attempt to come up with a win, the Michigan State Spartans made the decision to go with Brian Lewerke at quarterback instead of Tyler O’Conner, and the results blew up in their face.
Lewerke was only able to connect on 11 of his 24 passes for 156 yards and an interception. Michigan State has yet to fill everyone in on who will get the start this week, but one could only be left to believe that O’Conner will be under center.
On the season, O’Connor has thrown for 1,257 yards and 11 touchdowns, but has also been picked off six different times.

One positive that was taken from the Spartans loss to Maryland is the big game put together by LG Scott. He was able to run the ball for 128 yards on 20 carries.
He leads Michigan State with 464 rushing yards this season and will need to be productive this week if they are going to put up any kind of a fight against the Wolverines.
The loss against the Terrapins made five in a row for Michigan State and things aren’t looking any better for them this weekend.
On defense, Sparty has been giving up an average of 29.7 points a game, a number that will more than likely increase after the Wolverines leave East Lansing.
NCAA Football Handicapping Trends
- The total has gone over in 13 of Michigan’s previous 15 games.
- The Wolverines are 4-2 against the spread in their last 6 games on the road.
- Michigan State is 0-5 against the spread in their previous five games.
Free Week 9 NCAA Football Prediction
Yes, this is a huge rivalry game, but these two teams couldn’t be headed any further apart.
The Spartans have had plenty of struggles with the ball while the Wolverines defense has dominated everyone they have played this year with the exception of Wisconsin.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Michigan -19.5
The Spartans struggled to score against Maryland and that game will seem like a cake walk against the defense they are facing this week.
Michigan State hasn’t been able to stop the run and the Wolverines should be able to drive the ball down their throat in this one.
I look For Michigan to cover the 19.5 points without much of a problem at all.
