The Louisville Cardinals are currently ranked 5th in the nation and will making the trip Charlottesville this Saturday to take on the Virginia Cavaliers in an ACC showdown.
The Cardinals smacked around N.C. State 54-13 last week while Virginia was beat up pretty bad by the North Carolina Tar Heels 35-14.
Louisville did just enough to come away with a 38-31 victory when these two met last year
Louisville Cardinals
The Louisville offense was operating like a firing on all cylinders last weekend, tearing up the Wolf Pack 54-13.

It was just the lift they needed after the offense had struggled to get anything going their last few games.
The Cardinals quarterback Lamar Jackson was unstoppable again last week, tossing the ball for 355 yards and three touchdowns. He was also able to score a touchdown on the ground while running for 17 yards.
He has thrown 15 touchdowns while only being picked off four times in route to 2,161 yards this season.
His 16 rushing touchdowns is currently the highest mark in the country. Cole Hikituni was the leading receiver for the Cardinals, snatching six receptions out of the air for 118 yards.

Louisville now has three receivers who have at least 275 yards each.
Brandon Radcliff leads the team with 535 rushing yards. Louisville leads the nation right now in both points per game and total yards.
The Cardinal’s defense is still developing, but made it clear last weekend that they are improving on a weekly basis.
N.C. State was limited to a total of just 250 yards, with only 14 of them coming from the running game. The Cardinals are only giving up an average of 22.7 points per game.
Virginia Cavaliers
The Cavaliers couldn’t come up with any answers to keep pace with the North Carolina Tar Heels last weekend. Quarterback Kurt Benkert has kept in check throughout the game, only tossing the ball for 126 yards.
Neither he or his receivers could escape the pressure of the Carolina defense, resulting in his lowest production of the season.
Benkert has been strong this season, throwing the ball for 14 touchdowns and 1,859 yards, but has also made some poor decisions with the ball, resulting in being picked off seven times.

Cavaliers running back Taquan Mitchell was able to have his best game of the season, running for 106 yards on 19 carries.
He leads Virginia with a total of 461 yards on the year.
Virginia has struggled this season manufacturing points and have only put up an average of 26.3 on the board per game.
On the defense, the Cavaliers allowed North Carolina to gain 488 yards with 310 of them coming through the air.
Virginia has not been able to stop opposing quarterbacks this season and are giving up an average of 32.7 points per game.
NCAA Football Handicapping Trends
- The total has gone over in 6 of the Cardinals previous 7 games.
- Louisville is 7-2 against the spread in their last 9.
- Virginia is 10-3 against the spread in their previous 13.
Free Week 9 NCAA Football Prediction
The Cardinals have not had an issue putting up points this year, averaging 52.6 per game.
The Cavaliers are not exactly strong on defense which should allow things to get a little crazy.
Louisville doesn’t exactly have a strong defense themselves, but they are getting better week to week. I still think the Cavaliers will improve their average of scoring 26.3 per contest.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Total over 69.5
I don’t think I would ever give up the kind of points the Cardinals are favored by, but I am not sure there is anything Virginia will be able to do on defense to slow the Cardinals down.
I do think the Cavaliers will score enough points to push the total over 69.5.
