Don’t be fooled by the score of Houston’s last game, it was closer than it may seem.
After a huge win over the Sooners in week one and a 42-0 trouncing of Lamar in Week 2, the Cougars had a rough go-of-it against a decent Cincinnati Bearcats squad, as they needed a fierce fourth quarter to finally overpower Cincinnati.

But if you think Texas State has the power to play like the Bearcats did against Houston, you are sorely mistaken. Now I’m not saying Texas State is bad, they’re not. In fact, they can put up quite a few points, evidenced by their week one explosive and hard-fought 56-54 win over Ohio.
Still, Houston is in a different class than Texas State this year and should have no problem.
Houston Cougars
Greg Ward had a phenomenal game against Cincinnati in his return from injury, completing 24 of 36 for 326 yards and 1 TD.
Though he did toss two interceptions, Ward Jr. made up for them and more with his legs, running the ball 26 times for 73 yards and two touchdowns.

Defensively the Cougars were solid against Cincinnati, with Howard Wilson recording two INTs and Steven Taylor recording one, with each returning an interception for a TD.
Ranked highly this season, Houston will look to fine tune against Texas State before a relatively soft schedule that should see them dominate until a daunting November 17th matchup against Louisville.
Texas State Bobcats
QB Tyler Jones has been quietly phenomenal for the Bobcats in 2016. After completing 40 of 55 for 418 yards and four touchdowns in Texas State’s opener against Ohio, Jones had a tough time against the Arkansas Razorbacks, completing just 11 of 26 for 83 yards and and INT.
Though his numbers in the first game were likely inflated by a triple OT contest, they were still impressive.

Unfortunately for Texas State their defense did look equally susceptible against Ohio and will have quite the task in trying to stop Houston.
NCAA Football Handicapping Trends

Free Week 4 NCAA Football Prediction
Texas State may have a win over the Houston Cougars in the past five years but they won’t come away with a win on Saturday, as Greg Ward Jr. and the Cougars look primed for a run at the College Football Playoff. Houston will have a field day in this one.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Houston ATS
Houston doesn’t have too many challenges this season and likely won’t face too tough of an opponent until they host Louisville on November 17th in a game that could decide whether or not Houston will make the College Football Playoff. Texas State doesn’t have a shot in this one.
