By now we all now what a paycheck game is.
However, for those that may be a little groggy before their morning / afternoon coffee, here’s a bit of a refresher.
A paycheck game in college football is where a clearly inferior opponent heads to an tenacious opponent, gets thrown all over the field and takes a big paycheck home in return for their walloping.
Expect to see just that type of game on Saturday at Camp Randall Stadium, when the Georgia State Panthers head to Madison to take on the No. 9 Wisconsin Badgers.
This one is not going to be pretty.
Georgia State Panthers
Perhaps Georgia State has some fight in them. Perhaps they aren’t as bad as their 0-2 record indicates, with losses coming to Ball State and Air Force. Perhaps they have a shot in this one.
Wait, is that a pig flying?!?
It’s tough to give a team no shot in a game but that’s exactly what the Panthers have in this one.
They will run into Camp Randall Stadium, take their beating, and go home with a nice bit of pocket change they can use to improve their facilities.
If the Panthers are going to pull what would likely be the biggest upset of the season they’ll need to figure out a way to get past Wisconsin’s solid offensive line.
I, however, see no way of them doing that.
Don’t look now but the Badgers are ready to make a run for the Big Ten and the College Football Playoff.
Yes it is early on and it’s tough to really gauge what a team will be like throughout the entire season but the Badgers look legit.
An emphatic win over LSU in their opener and nice breather against Akron have Wisconsin in the Top 10 and thinking the sky’s the limit.
Led by their powerful and impenetrable offensive line, they may just be.
Georgia State will not present any test to the Badgers.
If anything, the scariest part about playing Georgia State is the potential for injury in a game that shouldn’t really mean anything more than a tune-up.
This is of course before a brutal streak of games when the Badgers travel to Michigan State and Michigan before hosting Ohio State then heading back on the road to take on Iowa.
Whoever designed Wisconsin’s 2016 schedule is evil. Pure evil.
NCAA Football Handicapping Trends
- This is the first meeting between these two teams; Wisconsin is 19-3 in home openers at Laramie.
- Wisconsin has four straight seasons of sub-.500 football, they haven’t had five consecutive since the early 1970s.
- Georgia State is 10-10 versus current Mountain West foes.
Free Week 3 NCAA Football Prediction
Georgia State has absolutely no shot in this one. This game is perhaps the easiest to call so far in 2016.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Badgers ATS and play the OVER
The only thing that may limit the amount of points Wisconsin puts on the board is fear of injury.
There is absolutely no reason for the Badgers to play their starters more than a half, and if they do they run the risk of significantly impacting the rest of their 2016 campaign. Look for points to be piled on early and Wisconsin to run away with this in a rout.
