Predominately known as a pure basketball school, the Duke football program has made quite the name for themselves over the past couple seasons. They’ll try to take another step forward as they begin their 2015 season in Louisiana to take on the Green Wave.
This will make the 2nd straight season Duke and Tulane will go head-to-head. The Blue Devils used their impressive offense in 2014 as they routed the Green Wave 47-13.
The Green Wave were undone by 3 interceptions in the game and couldn’t stop Duke from the throwing down field.
Duke will be replacing a compliment of first team players while the Green Wave will welcome back some of their main play makers here in 2015.
Kick off is set for 9:30 PM on the CBS Sports Network.
Duke has been one of the most feared teams in the ACC the last couple of seasons. From their exploding offense to their swarming defense, the Blue Devils have become relevant on the football field.
However, things may be tough here in 2015 as they are essentially rebuilding.
The Blue Devils will replace their QB, top WR, and a compliment of offensive linemen. While they’ve been able to put points up in high numbers as of late, things may be a bit tougher for them in 2015.
Having a new QB doesn’t have the Blue Devils players and coaches worried though. Now Senior WR Max McCaffrey had nothing but positive things to say about his QB Thomas Sirk. He told reporters than Sirk has been around in practice for 3 years now. The receiving corp feels very comfortable with Sirk throwing to them this year.
After finishing 9-4 and having another great season, Duke looks to take a giant step forward make a push for the ACC Title. Just a bowl game is no longer good enough for this program.
Tulane Green Wave
Returning starting QB Tanner Lee will have a lot of pressure on him heading into the Green Wave’s 2015 season. Lee was extremely inconsistent in 2014 and that was shown in team’s game against these Blue Devils.
Lee threw for 3 interceptions and went just 14 for 35 in pass attempts as Tulane was ran out of the stadium.
After finishing 3-9 last year, Tulane hopes to right the ship here with a 2015 Bowl appearance.
If they have any hopes of doing that, they’ll need to ask a lot from their running game. The Green Wave is one of the best rushing teams in the AAC and returns essentially all their backs.
They also get a giant bonus with the return of Rob Kelley, who missed all of 2014 with a suspension.

Week 1 NCAA Football Prediction
Duke is going to struggle early here with a new QB, regardless of how much he has practiced with this core. Both teams will try to establish a run game here as Tulane is just simply a dominant rushing team and the Blue Devils do not want to overwhelm their inexperienced pass attack.
