Colorado is not going to win too many games this season once conference play begins so if they want to show improvement they are going to have to get some wins early
Hawaii’s league is not as tough but they are not going to find it easy in their league either…at least not with their talent.
These teams have met three times since 2010 with the home team winning each time.

That winning team has covered each time too. The home team has been favoured each time but that is not the case in this one.
Colorado
The Buffaloes are looking to take baby steps back to respectability. A task made very difficult in the PAC 12 South. Last year they won just a couple of but this year they can likely add to that total, provided they get this one to start the season.
In Sefo Liufau they have one of the more underrated QBs in the league. A big guy he can hang in there and take a hit but he also throws too many interceptions.
When he does connect it is usually with Nelson Spruce who led the PAC 12 in receptions and receiving TDs. That combination will have to continue to do damage.
On defense nine starters return, from a unit that was not very good last season. The competition in the league has something to do with it but these guys need to improve a lot to move the team forward.

There is optimism in Boulder that coach MacIntyre finally has the club going in the right direction.
Hawaii
Coach Norm Chow might be a great offensive mind but he has only been able to get Hawaii to 8 wins over the past three seasons. 4 came last season and topping that is going to be difficult with a schedule featuring trips to Ohio State and Wisconsin.
Chow went back to his old stomping grounds to recruit former Trojan Max Wittek to play QB. He was a highly touted recruit but did not show much over two season at USC.
The Rainbow Warriors seem to never be all that intimidating on defense.
Last year they did a solid job against the run but really teams can get what they want against this group which includes no one player you have to worry about.

A win for Hawaii would be a nice get for the program but their upside is pretty limited this season.

Week 1 NCAA Football Prediction
Even though the series data says back the home Warriors I can’t get comfortable putting my money into Hawaii. If Colorado really is a team on the rise they should cover easy.

For safety sake you probably want to bring this one down to an even 7 points.
