Clemson looks to keep their perfect regular season intact, and the Tigers must feel confident after they have navigated through the teeth of their 2015 schedule. A big win last week against Florida State was enough to get Tigers fans pretty confident about their FBS Playoff ambitions.
Despite only sitting at 3-6, Syracuse is a good enough ballclub for Clemson to focus on one game at a time. Freshman QB Eric Dungey with nearly 1,300 yards and 11 TDs to just five INTs in his inaugural campaign.
Syracuse have only narrowly come up short against strong programs like #8 LSU, Pitt and Virginia, but even with a smaller football program, there’s only so much you can celebrate moral victories.
Dabo Swinney’s team is difficult to stop for a variety of reasons. The discussion starts, though, with Heisman candidate QB Deshaun Watson, who has the ACC in the palm of his hand with a stat line of 2,233 yards, 25 total TDs to go with 493 yards on the ground.
He makes Clemson’s formidable offense go. Watson, only a sophomore, is assisted by RB Wayne Gallman, who should crack the 1,000-yard plateau this Saturday (977, eight TDs) and WR Artavis Scott (56 receptions for 554 yards).
Clemson’s 58-0 drubbing of Miami a few weeks ago was a real statement game. This program, after underachieving for so many years, is one to be taken seriously under the stewardship of Swinney and Watson.
Scott Schafer’s team plays hard, which is at least a solid start for the long-struggling Syracuse football program. The glory years of Donovan McNabb, Marvin Harrison, Dwight Freeney and his ilk are long gone. The Orange are only 1-4 in ACC play, but the Orange have a pivot in Dungey that looks like the best they’ve had since former star (and current back-up for the New York Giants) Ryan Nassib. Dungey also poses a threat scrambling, with 351 rush yards and five majors.
The passing game runs through Steve Ishmael and Ervin Phillips, who’ve combined for 689 yards and nine scores. Brisly Estime presents a deep threat for the offense, when Dungey wants to test his arm strength.
The Orange rank only 92nd in the nation in points against per game (30.7), so Schafer’s defense still needs to get its house in order. Also, the Orange may be further jeopardized in this game with the health of Dungey, he is listed as questionable with a head injury. If the freshman can’t go, expect sophomore Zack Mahoney to get under center.
If Syracuse’s offense can’t feature Dungey, however, any chances of an upset at home are likely null and void.

Free Week 11 NCAA Football Prediction
Clemson would likely be too strong with Syracuse’s “straw that stirs the drink” in optimum health; with Dungey’s status questionable with a head injury – always a bugaboo in today’s game – Clemson should easily handle Syracuse, provided Swinney’s team remains focused on the task at hand.
