College Gameday invades Utah as the #22 California Golden Bears get set to take on the #7 Utah Utes under the lights Saturday night.
California comes in off a come from behind victory against the Washington State Cougars as they held on for a 32-28 win.
As for Utah, they got a much deserved bye week after their route of then Top 25 ranked Oregon.
Kick off is set for 10:00 PM EST in Utah.
California Golden Bears
The Golden Bears offer one of the most threatening offenses in all of college football. Behind QB Jared Goff and his prolific passing game, Cal has the ability to light up the scoreboard on any given night.
While they didn’t light it up as much as normal last time out, they did manage to keep their perfect record with a come from behind win against the Cougars. Cal used a little trickery with an onside kick in the 3rd quarter, that eventually led to their game winning score.
QB Jared Goff leads the Pac 12 in both touchdowns (15) and passing yards (1630). Goff has built solid connections with receivers Kenny Lawler and Bryce Treggs. Lawler comes in with 8 touchdowns to his credit and Treggs has 272 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Cal will be without RBs Daniel Lasco, Khalfani Muhammad and Vic Enwere. All three sit with injuries, which puts even more pressure on Goff to get the pass game going early and keep it going.
The Utes have been one of the more shocking teams this season. They earned themselves a solid bye week after an absolute dismantling of the Oregon Ducks a couple weeks ago.
The Utes ran up a 62-20 score and just simply couldn’t be stopped. In fact, they had a play in the 3rd quarter where Oregon was looking to climb back into the game as they were about to receive a punt. The Utah punt hit the FOX Skycam and it resulted in a re punt situation.
Utah promptly faked the punt, rushed for a first down, which put a major blow in the Ducks’ morales.
Utah is winning games thanks to their prolific run game. RB Devontae Booker is averaging 111 yards on the ground and QB Travis Wilson ran wild last week, resulting in 200 yards on 23 rushes.
Utah’s offensive line also continues to play well as they’ve allowed just 1 sack throughout the Utes four games. The line is also creating a lot of holes for Booker to run through and giving Wilson plenty of time to drop back.

The Golden Bears can’t be overlooked here. Jared Goff is the best in the nation at what he does and his Heisman and NFL stock is rising. The safe way to go here may be to grab the points and hope this turns into a shootout.
