After Utah’s whooping of Oregon there might be a changing of the guard in the PAC12. This game will help in settling where teams are. Especially for Arizona.
Arizona definitely needs to show they are not the team that got hammered by UCLA last week. Though this might not be the spot.

Stanford has won the last three in the series but they haven’t faced each other since 2012.
Arizona
The Wildcats really need this one. After getting embarrassed at home by UCLA they are looking to show that they are going to be a factor in the conference the rest of the way. This is a tough spot to prove it though.
Arizona got some bad news with Scooby Wright now out for an interminable amount of time. For a team lacking in defensive intensity they have lost their most important playmaker.

That means that Anu Solomon and the offense have to be clicking on all cylinders. Last week against UCLA he completed only 40% of his passes. That is a bad omen as the Stanford defense may be even better – he is questionable for this game at the moment so be sure before you get down.
Arizona seems to quickly be going from contender to pretender status in the PAC 12. An 0-2 start might bury them.
Stanford
With Oregon looking average and a win over USC already the Cardinal are looking like the team to beat in the PAC12 North.
There is still room for improvement but senior QB Kevin Hogan is looking to make this his best season ever. They do want a balanced attack but they are able to sling it as well when they need to.

In a backfield with NFL ties it is Christian McCaffery who has really come on, providing the bruising presence they like at the position. The shiftier Barry Sanders Jr. provides a nice chance of pace.
The defense is good but it will probably get better as the season progresses and some of the new faces get more comfortable.

If Solomon is out the Wildcats have no chance to keep this one close on the road. Even with him the odds of getting beat on again are high.
