This Mountain West conference game features teams with very different offensive philosophies. Air Force started the season 4-0 but lost last week. New Mexico is coming off of a bad loss to Boise St.
With the difference in talent levels on each roster I’m expecting Air Force to come out and have a good game.
Air Force Falcons
QB Nate Romine has had a rough couple of weeks throwing the ball.
Against Wyoming he was 6-19 for 188 yards, 2 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. He must be more accurate with his throws this week to avoid the upset.

New starting running back D.J. Johnson had a good game last week against Wyoming. He carried the ball 7 times for 73 yards.
This week against the Lobos look for him to be featured more on offense and he should reach the 100 yard mark and get a score as well.
Talented receiver Jalen Robinette has had two straight dominate games.
He followed up a week 5 performance of 5 catches for 163 yards and a score with a 3 catch 101 yard and a score performance last week.

Each score was for 75 yards. He faces a Lobo secondary that has been tested all season long.
Outside of last week’s loss the Falcons defense has been average this year.
In the last 3 games they are averaging giving up 264 yards through the air. This week they go up against a Lobos offense not known for airing the ball out, so the secondary should have an easier test this week.
New Mexico Lobos
Quarterback Lamar Jordan isn’t known for his ability to throw the ball. He is a threat to run it every time he takes a snap. This ability to beat defenses with his legs will make him the focal point of the Air Force front seven this week.
Last week against the Broncos he passed for only 39 yards but ran for 139 yards. In the last 3 games he has averaged 16 carries for 95 yards. I expect him to have over 20 carries this week with over 100 yards rushing and a score.
Running back Tyrone Owens has not averaged less than 4.8 yards per carry in a game this season. It was very surprising to see him run for a 62 yard score last week against a good Broncos run defense.
I expect him to reach the century mark this week but he won’t get into the end zone.
Teryion Gipson’s hamstring might keep him out of the game. If he does play I expect a limited amount of touches for him as the Falcons staff will want to ease him back into the flow of things.

The New Mexico running game is second best in the nation.
If the Falcons can slow down the running attack, or jump out to an early lead, it will force the Lobos to throw the ball down the field.
This will make the game easier for the defense since I don’t believe Lamar Jordan can win them the game throwing it 30 times.
The Lobos defense has given up at least 30 points in each of the last 4 games (1-3 during that span).
This week against the Falcons I look for the secondary to have a lot of trouble stopping the Romine/Robinette connection.
It won’t surprise me to see him grab another catch over 50 yards against a weak secondary.

The Falcons offense comes out firing, putting New Mexico in an early hole they can’t dig out of.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Air Force ATS, Under
Romine gets a couple of touchdown passes and the Lobos running game won’t do enough to keep the defense off the field.
