2016 Football Preview – Pac-12 – Washington Huskies
Looking for 2016 Washington Huskies predictions? After a successful 2015 campaign the Washington Huskies are a team on the rise with a lot of potential. The Huskies were 4-6 after ten games, but three of those losses were by six points or less and five of the losses were by eleven points or less.

The Huskies rallied to win their final three games including a 45-10 rout over their in-state rival Washington State and a win at the Cotton Bowl over Southern Mississippi to go 7-6 for the season.
2016 Washington Huskies Predictions: Team Strengths
Washington’s defense will have to carry a major load and I believe they will. Last year, Washington was strong even with key pieces leaving for the NFL Draft including three first round picks in Danny Shelton, Marcus Peters, and Shaq Thompson.

Washington suffered no serious blows this year on the defensive end and they should be even stronger. Which is saying something considering that Washington only allowed 18.8 points per game. The Huskies defense is legitimate and should get better this year.
The other strength for Washington is their running game. Freshman Myles Gaskin was a breakout star last year as he averaged 100 yards per game en route to 1,302 yards and fourteen touchdowns for the season.

If Gaskin improves upon those numbers next year Washington’s offense will most certainly be better.
2016 Washington Huskies Predictions: Team Weaknesses
Speaking of the offense, Washington should be better offensively – as we talked about above with Gaskin – but they are still very young and lack significant speed outside the numbers.
Sophomore quarterback will have to take that next step and become more efficient as a passer and limit the turnovers.
However, if Browning will take that next step he’ll need some help from his offensive line. Browning was on his back 30 times last season and ran for his life way more than that.
Washington’s offensive line is young and pretty weak and they will have to significantly get better if the Huskies are going to take that major step forward.
The good news is that the vast majority of the line will be back together and the Huskies will hope that another year of experience is just what the doctor ordered.
2016 Washington Huskies Predictions:
(Washington Huskies 9-4)
Lots of folks are predicting the Washington Huskies as a potential sleeper to make the College Football Playoff, but I wouldn’t go that far. Washington’s offensive line just isn’t a championship quality line. Plus, the schedule makers didn’t do the Huskies any favor.
After three cupcakes, Washington has to go on the road to Tucson, on a short week go back home to take on the physical Cardinal and then go back on the road to face their nemesis in the Oregon Ducks.
If Washington goes 2-1 during that stretch and are 5-1 after six games, then the Huskies have a good shot at winning ten games without including the bowl game.

Washington will be a good team, but not a great team – maybe next year or the year after that, but not this year. Even with that said, the door is open for them to represent the Pac-12 North as Oregon and Stanford are losing some key pieces.
The Pac-12 North is wide open this year and we may end up seeing the Huskies in Santa Clara in December this year.
Realistically, I believe Washington will win at least seven games without including the bowl game. That’s their floor, but I think they end up grabbing a couple of more wins and end up with a 9-4 record including the bowl game.
