2016 Texas Longhorns Predictions: Team Strengths
The Texas Longhorns strengths is their running game and their linebacker core. Junior halfback D’Onta Foreman and sophomore Chris Warren III are two absolute beasts and they are going to take the pressure off no matter who the starting quarterback is.
Foreman was the starting halfback for most of the year and when he got the ball, he usually ran for 100 yards. Unfortunately, the Longhorns struggled quite a bit and were down the vast majority of the time and Foreman didn’t get the touches he needed. Still he ran for 681 yards on 95 carries good for 7.2 yards a pop.

Foreman didn’t play the final two games, but Warren III did. Warren III joined the likes of Cedrick Benson, Ricky Williams, and Jamaal Charles with one of the best single game performances in Longhorns history.
Warren III ran for 276 yards and four touchdowns against Texas Tech and then he responded by going over 100 yards against the Baylor Bears.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Longhorns were terrible. However, they were very green and there is some diamonds in the rough. Namely, in the linebacker core led by Malik Jefferson. Jefferson is a supremely talented player and he showed that in his freshman year.
2016 Texas Longhorns Predictions: Team Weaknesses
The Texas Longhorns don’t have any playmakers on the outside and quarterback remains a mystery. Is Jerrod Heard the answer? Probably not. Will true freshman Shane Buechele win the job? Maybe. But he is the most talented pure passer on this roster and fits new offensive coordinator Sterlin Gilbert’s scheme.
However, there are potential risks in starting a true freshman quarterback right way that could hinder the future.
Unfortunately, Strong and company are in year three and don’t have time to wait around they need wins now otherwise they might not be able to reap in the fruits of their labor.

Off-the-field is another story. A lot has happened off the field that could distract this team if these issues aren’t resolved before the season is started. The Volunteers need to keep their players in check, quit getting arrested.
Tennessee needs some leaders to step up and keep this team in check. This team has massive potential and it would be a shame if they squander it away.
2016 Texas Longhorns Predictions:
(Texas Longhorns 7-6)
The Texas Longhorns are an interesting team and have a lot of questions surrounding them right now. The big one is who will be under center this year? If Buechele wins the job I think the Longhorns win an extra couple of games.
I’m going to say that the Longhorns will have their first winning season under Charlie Strong. Whether or not that will be good enough for him to keep his job is another story.
You would like to think so because this Longhorn team is young, talented and headed in the right direction. Next year will be the year the Longhorns will legitimately compete for the Big 12 title.

The future looks bright for this team and if Strong is fired after this year whoever takes over couldn’t ask for a better situation.
