The White Sox headed home from Toronto Monday night after getting swept in four straight to extend its online betting losing streak to six games. A win was of the utmost importance for the Palehose, and Gavin Floyd stepped up to the plate when needed most by tossing an absolute gem. He came two outs away from throwing a no-hitter, but most importantly, he helped his club notch a victory in the win column. He was effectively wild all night long limiting the hot Twins offense to just one hit and one run while striking out four and walking three. It was the second time he flirted with a no hitter this season after throwing seven no hit innings against the Tigers back in early April. He improved his record to 3-1 overall and lowered his ERA to a solid 2.50. Twins rookie right-hander, Nick Blackburn, had trouble on the road once again surrendering six hits and four runs (3 ER) in six innings of work. He’s now 2-2 with a 3.65 ERA after the defeat. With the loss, Minnesota now holds a three games to two series advantage this season.
