Webb goes for seventh straight win versus Mets

Brandon Webb tries to become baseball's first seven-game winner this afternoon when the Arizona Diamondbacks continue their three-game series with the New York Mets at Chase Field.

Webb, the NL's Cy Young Award winner in 2006, won for the sixth time in six starts on Sunday in San Diego, as he held the Padres to an unearned run and five hits over six innings to improve to 6-0, while lowering his earned run average to a sparkling 1.98.

With a win today, Webb will match Randy Johnson's 2000 franchise record for most consecutive victories to start a season.
