Joel Pineiro allowed just one run in seven innings on the mound, as the St. Louis Cardinals upended the Pittsburgh Pirates, 6-2 to earn a split in the clubs' two-game series at PNC Park.
Pineiro (1-2), who came into the game with an 8.10 ERA, struck out six while allowing four hits and just one walk for St. Louis, which had lost four of its last five. Jason Isringhausen recorded the final two outs of the game for his eighth save of the season.
