Mets catcher Schneider hospitalized with thumb infection

Mets catcher Brian Schneider was in a New York hospital on Thursday due to an infected left thumb.

Schneider was expected to remain in the hospital overnight and it's not known if the Mets will have to place him on the disabled list. He had missed three games recently due to a deep right forearm bruise, but returned to play in Wednesday night's win over the Nationals.
