The Colorado Avalanche were without the services of center Peter Forsberg in Game 1 of their Western Conference semifinals series against the Detroit Red Wings. Forsberg was scratched because of a groin injury. The 34-year-old Swede notched five points (one goal, four assists) in the first round against the Minnesota Wild, whom the Avalanche ousted in six games.
