Garnett tabbed NBA's best defender

The NBA announced Tuesday that the Boston Celtics' Kevin Garnett has won the 2007-08 NBA Defensive Player of the Year award.

The 6-foot-11 forward averaged 9.2 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and 1.4 steals while chipping in 14.8 points per game for Boston, which ranked second in the league in points allowed (90.3 ppg). The defensive award is the first of his career for the 31-year-old.
