You'll forgive me if I'm not quite sold on the Pittsburgh Penguins. It's not because their four-game sweep of the Ottawa Senators wasn't impressive; it was. The Pens utterly dominated the Sens, the victor outscoring the vanquished 16-5 in the opening-round series. Last year's postseason heroes for Ottawa – Jason Spezza, Daniel Alfredsson and Dany Heatley – the same ones that led their club all the way to the 2007 Stanley Cup finals, were held to a combined two points.
So, yes, the Pens have impressed. So far. Wednesday night on the road, they looked calm and composed while defending a one-goal lead. Not to mention, their best players have been exactly that in the playoffs. Sidney Crosby leads the team with eight points, Evgeni Malkin is second with seven and Marian Hossa and Ryan Malone are tied for third with five. Goalie Marc-Andre Fleury has also been outstanding, with a 1.26 goals-against-average and .955 save percentage.
