For once, the wagers are fit to match the storylines.
In a world where betting options are infinite, hockey and its "O/U or moneyline?" stigma always struggled. The limited wagering options were a stark contrast to the excitement and intrigue of the sport, especially during the Stanley Cup playoffs. Long known as the most competitive and grueling postseason in professional sports, the NHL usually generates a great amount of attention this time of year.
But that attention rarely translated into equally engaging betting options.
Until now.
Some of the NHL prop bets currently featured in the Bodog Sportsbook coincide nicely with the league's biggest stories. Washington Capitals superstar Alex Ovechkin makes his postseason debut against the Philadelphia Flyers. Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin look to earn Pittsburgh its first playoff series win since 2001. The Anaheim Ducks aim to be the first repeat Stanley Cup champions since the Detroit Red Wings did it 10 years ago. The two architects of Buffalo's Presidents' Trophy-winning squad from last season – Chris Drury and Daniel Briere – are now leading the Rangers and Flyers into the playoffs.
