Cardinals place P Springer on DL

The St. Louis Cardinals placed right-handed pitcher Russ Springer on the 15-day disabled list on Saturday with ulnar neuritis in his pitching elbow. Springer, in his 16th season, had a 13.50 ERA in three games this season. He was 8-1 with a 2.18 ERA in 76 relief appearances. For his career, the journeyman is 33-40 with a 4.72 ERA. In a related move, the Cardinals recalled right-hander Kelvin Jimenez from Triple-A Memphis.
