Default From 65 to 16 - March Madness Betting My Sportsbook

Philadelphia, PA (My Sportsbook) - Despite a host of early upsets in the 2008 NCAA Tournament, all four number one seeds are still alive.

North Carolina and UCLA, 4-1 co-favorites before the tournament began, are now down to 3-1 to win the title, while Kansas and Memphis still top their respective regions in terms of favoritism. The Jayhawks are a close third choice to the Tar Heels and Bruins, at 7-2, and Memphis stands at 6-1. Almost every other club is double digits, from Texas at 10-1 to Villanova at 60-1. The only exception is Western Kentucky at 100-1.

Prior to the tournament, I advised all my readers to double up on the two chalks - UNC and UCLA - as those two, in my opinion, were head and shoulders above the rest of the field. The Tar Heels have done their part, crushing both Mount St. Mary's and Arkansas by a combined 70 points. The Bruins, on the other hand, struggled vs. Texas A&M in second round play, but have the advantage of playing the 12th-seeded Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky instead of Connecticut this Thursday night. If they advance to the Elite Eight, they will play the winner of West Virginia-Xavier, two clubs that are inferior to UCLA.

Kansas also gets a slight break, as the four and five seeds in the Midwest both fell in the first round. The 12-seed Villanova Wildcats will be the Jayhawks' next opponent. In fact, North Carolina is the only top seed to play a four seed in the next round. Memphis will take on number-five Michigan State in the final contest involving a top seed.
