The Toronto Blue Jays released veteran outfielder Reed Johnson on Sunday. The 31-year-old Johnson spent parts of five big league seasons in Toronto, batting .281 with 42 home runs and 234 runs batted in. In 2006, Johnson led the Blue Jays with a .319 batting average but he missed three months last season after undergoing surgery to repair a herniated disc in his back.
