Nick Swisher's grand slam capped a seven-run third inning, powering the White Sox to a 10-3 win over the Cubs in the opener of a three-game set between the crosstown rivals.
Carlos Quentin went 4-for-5 with two runs batted in and scored twice for the White Sox, who ended a six-game losing skid to the Cubs. Jermaine Dye went 3- for-5 and drove in three for the White Sox, who have won three of four.
Jose Contreras (7-6) gave up three runs on seven hits in six-plus innings, fanning three and walking two to get the win.
