The accomplishments and troubles of Texas Rangers veteran outfielder/designated hitter Milton Bradley have been well documented. If he's not reaching base on a consistent basis or hitting for average, Bradley sometimes can be found expressing his emotions at the worst of times.
Bradley's recent run-in with controversy occurred after an 11-5 victory over the Kansas City Royals on June 11 at Kauffman Stadium. Bradley was designated hitter that game, finishing 0-for-3 with two walks and a pair of strikeouts, when he overheard Royals television broadcaster Ryan Lefebvre make comments he believed were unfair. Lefebvre noted that he was complimenting Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton in his highly-publicized return from drug and alcohol abuse, but also remarked on how Bradley doesn't seem to be doing the same for his embattled life. Lefebvre also stated how he praised Bradley but apparently he didn't hear those remarks on the television.
Bradley obviously took offense of the situation and headed for the press box following the contest. But before Bradley could confront Lefebvre, Rangers manager Ron Washington and general manager Jon Daniels intercepted the fuming ballplayer before anything ensued. An emotionally distraught Bradley then returned to the clubhouse to be with his teammates and explain his feelings.
"All I want to do is play baseball and make a better life for my kid than I had, that's it," Bradley said to the team. "I love all you guys. I'm strong, but I'm not that strong."
