Hideki Matsui hit a grand slam and Andy Pettitte pitched eight stellar innings, as the New York Yankees defeated the Oakland Athletics, 4-1, in the rubber match of a three-game series at McAfee Coliseum. Pettitte (6-5) allowed one run on five hits with six strikeouts for the Yankees, who have won six of their last nine games overall. The win was much- needed for Pettitte, who nicely recovered from one of the worst outings of his care
