Soriano placed on disabled list

Chicago Cubs outfielder Alfonso Soriano was placed on the 15-day disabled list, as expected, because of a fractured finger on his left hand. Soriano was hurt during Wednesday's game against Atlanta when he was hit by a pitch from Jeff Bennett. The ball drilled Soriano on the left hand, ricocheted up and clipped his helmet.
