The Tampa Bay Rays selected high school shortstop Tim Beckham on Thursday as the top overall choice in the 2008 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. The Georgia prep star is a five-tool talent whose athleticism and elite skill set has evoked comparisons to ex-Cincinnati great Barry Larkin.
