 Smoltz headed for season-ending surgery Atlanta Braves pitcher John Smoltz will undergo surgery on his right shoulder that is expected to put an end to his 2008 season. The Braves held a press conference Wednesday and Smoltz said he will do everything he can to return. "I'm totally content with it [surgery]," said Smoltz. "It's not the end of the world.
