The New York Yankees placed pitcher Ian Kennedy on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday with a strained right lat muscle.
Kennedy left Tuesday's 10-9, 11-inning loss against the Baltimore Orioles after three innings on the hill with a strained right lat muscle.
The 23-year-old was charged with four runs on four hits in his eighth start of the season. Kennedy also allowed back-to-back home runs to Kevin Millar and Ramon Hernandez in the second inning, in addition to throwing a wild pitch and fanning three batters. He did, however, retire the side in succession in the first inning on just eight pitches.
