Rays hand Rangers first series loss in a month

Matt Garza struck out 10 over a career- high eight innings to lead the Tampa Bay Rays over the Texas Rangers, 5-3, at Tropicana Field.

Garza (4-1) walked two and scattered four hits while allowing two runs. He reached the 10-strikeout plateau for the second time in his career and the first since striking out 11 in six innings of a 4-1 win over Cleveland on July 29, 2007 while with Minnesota.
