| It figures to be an exciting weekend with the battles for bragging rights in both Los Angeles and New York highlighting the schedule. The betting action figures to be brisk, so make sure you’re referencing the Sportsbook Betting Trends and Team Statistics pages before getting in on any of the action. In the Big Apple, the New York Yankees host the New York Mets for three games. Both of Gotham’s clubs have been treading water in the early going of 2008 and will be looking at interleague to provide a spring board for a run back towards contention. Surprisingly, the problem for the Yankees has been scoring runs, as entering the week they were averaging just over four runs per contest. Still, most savvy bettors have picked up on it and have been pounding the Totals to go under. In their first 42 games, the Yanks had gone under the total 30 times. In the Los Angeles, the L.A. Angels from the American League host the senior circuit’s L.A. Dodgers for three contests. The Angels fell out first place in the A.L. West last weekend after being swept by the Rays and will be looking to get back on top here. The Dodgers are playing about .500 baseball, but their biggest problem has been trying to track down the hot-starting Diamondbacks. L.A.’s boys of blue were just 5-10 last year in interleague play, losing nearly six units for backers. The lone divisional series on tap for this weekend pits the Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago Cubs from venerable Wrigley Field in Chicago. The loveable losers from the north side are starting to heat up, having swept Arizona this past weekend, then following that up by taking two of three from the reeling San Diego Padres. The fans in Chicago are definitely catching a case of pennant fever, as their talented club is leading the N.L. Central while scoring a Major League best 5.8 runs per game. Now, here are of those top trends we referenced earlier, taken straight from the FoxSheets’ Power Searches.
